This is the pattern preceeding the small sized Flying Eagle cent of 1856 - 1858. The obverse shows a hook-neck eagle surrounded by thirteen stars with the date below. The reverse (4 Leaves under E in STATES) is similar in design to the large cent, with a smaller wreath. The diameter is about 80% that of a large cent. Lovely dusky brown surfaces show occasional glints of subdued orangish-rose, particularly at the reverse rims. Considerable eye appeal for the grade. Additional photos available upon request.
1855 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-168 Original, Pollock-193, R4, PR64 Brown NGC. $3,000.00
1867 Pattern Nickel. Judd-570 Original, Pollock-638, R5, PR63 PCGS.
$1,995.00
A bust of Liberty wearing a coronet and facing left dominates the obverse design. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the periphery with the date below. The reverse shows 5 CENTS centered within a laurel wreath with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST at the top. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. A pleasing proof with pale pastel champagne and blue color over reflective surfaces. This beauty crossed over into a PCGS holder from NGC with no problem! Yes, it was sent in as a crossover! Originally purchased from Anaconda Rare Coins.
